The original apartment was very fragmented, with its 85m² distributed among 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a kitchen separated from the living-dining room. Three of the rooms faced a very bright inner courtyard through the terrace.
The clients needed to maintain the same layout, but the apartment needed to breathe and become more spacious. The solution for the daytime area involved opening it completely and visually connecting it to the study, which was also enlarged. In the nighttime area, a small layout change allowed for the creation of a suite with plenty of closets.
Sustainability in this project focused on the first of the 4Rs: Reduce. The renovation minimized wall interventions and concentrated on specific areas to respond to the clients' needs. The existing climate control system, which functioned well and met the apartment's energy needs, was preserved. Above all, the project involved knowing how to prioritize and make sacrifices.
